WPTV NewsChannel 5 Chief
Meteorologist Steve Weagle will join County Commissioner Warren
Newell as the masters of ceremonies for the Drowning Prevention
Coalition’s first fund-raising charity tournament at the
exclusive Trump International Golf Club on Monday, May 1, 2006.
The tournament will be held in partnership with the YMCA of
South Palm Beach County.
The Drowning Prevention Coalition
works to promote, develop and support training and community
education efforts that prevent drowning, near drowning and
water-related accidents. Tax-deductible golf foursomes are
now available by calling Gerri Penney at the Coalition at
561-616-7024. Proceeds from the sponsorships will be used to
offer vouchers for free swimming lessons for financially
qualified families. Pools accepting these vouchers are located
throughout Palm Beach County.
Commissioner Warren Newell, a
co-founder of the Coalition in 1998, urges community support for
this worthwhile life-saving endeavor.
Weagle joined the NewsChannel 5
StormTeam in 1998 after working for an affiliate of the Canadian
Television Network and with the Canadian Weather Service. His
community service includes the American Red Cross, Palm Beach
Literacy Coalition and honorary chair of Arthur’s Jam for Cystic
Fibrosis.
