Beginning on Tuesday, May 2, Palm Beach County’s cable TV station, PBC-TV Channel 20, will offer real-time closed-captioning of Board of County Commissioners board meetings. This service is being made available in an effort to improve hearing-impaired viewers’ access to important government decisions and issues, in accordance with the provisions of the ADA.
“Most of the newer TV sets are closed-captioning ready, and this new feature will work with no additional equipment required,” said Public Affairs Director Beth Ingold-Love. “In case we have a major storm, we will also offer closed-captioning during all Emergency Management media briefings.”
The National Captioning Institute, the world’s largest closed-captioning company with more than 200 employees, will be providing this service to Channel 20.
