Join the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service Florida Yards and Neighborhoods (FYN) program for a four-class series on designing a Florida-friendly landscape for your home. All of the materials you need will be provided. No experience with design, landscaping or horticulture is required. Just bring your ideas!
In this series of classes you will learn what a Florida-friendly landscape is and how to create one at your own home. There will be door prizes, give-away items and snacks at each class. Special guest speakers will present materials, and Master Gardener assistance will be provided to help you make the best decisions on plant materials, artistic aspects and more. At the end of the course you will have a landscape design with proper plant materials that you can use at your home.
Some of the topics that will be covered are: basic principles of design, drought tolerant plants, xeroscaping, butterfly gardening, native plants, mulch, rain barrels, micro-irrigation, use of cutting, grafting, propagation and starter plants. Some activities will be conducted outdoors, so sun screen and a good hat are recommended.
Payment and pre-registration are required and space is limited.
