Palm Tran Announces May Service Updates

For immediate release: April 21, 2009
Contact: Jessica Dumars, 561-841-4245 Senior Public Relations Specialist

Palm Tran will soon open a new, passenger-friendly public transportation transfer station in West Palm Beach.  All of Palm Tran’s buses that currently connect for transfers on Quadrille Blvd. will begin connecting at the new Intermodal Transit Center on May 10, 2009.

The intermodal center is located on Clearwater Drive, adjacent to the Tri-Rail station in downtown West Palm Beach.  The routes that will serve the new facility include Routes 1, 2, 31, 40, 41, 43, 44, 45 and the newly created Route 49, which begins service May 10.  Only Routes 1 and 41 will regularly serve Quadrille Blvd. after May 10.

Other service updates effective May 10 include:

  • Route 43 will become a more direct east-west route on Okeechobee Blvd. by taking out the segment between Okeechobee Blvd. and Palm Beach Lakes (including Executive Center Drive).  This segment will now be served by the new Route 49, which will also serve the Westgate community.

  • Route 50 will be discontinued.  Passengers will be able to take Route 1 from the intermodal center to Quadrille Blvd. every 15 minutes during weekday peak hours.  Additional service from the intermodal center to Quadrille and other points east will be available on Route 41 and on select trips of Route 40.

For route information, please contact Palm Tran’s Customer Service Department at 561-841-4287 or toll-free, 877-930-4287.  Full schedules for the modified routes will be available online at www.palmtran.org, and look for our new Service Guide in May 2009.
