Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his third Glades-area community forum on April 29 at the Dolly Hand Cultural Center. Western Communities Liaison Michael E. Jackson introduced 10 invited speakers representing county government and the municipal governments of Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay.

The approximately 75 attendees received updates on a broad range of projects and topics, including the Pahokee Marina, a Glades Utility Authority, jail expansion, economic development and the Avenue A revitalization project, a public market, youth empowerment centers, a new regional hospital, the proposed inland port, new city halls for Belle Glade and Pahokee, and plans for three new fire stations, a new library and a new courthouse.
