Commissioner Koons Supports Centennial Bell Fund Raising

Commissioner Jeff Koons spoke at a press conference held on May 13, 2009 on the steps of the historic County Court House.  The purpose of the event was to provide an update on the Centennial Bell Project, thank supporters and encourage additional community involvement.  To date, donors have provided $75,000 toward this project.  The first 100 donors giving $1,909 each, in celebration of Palm Beach County’s founding year, will be honored at the bell’s unveiling ceremony and have their names permanently displayed with the bell.

The Centennial Bell is the only permanent commemoration dedicated to Palm Beach County’s centennial.  The functional 990-pound bell will be placed in an artist-designed area in front of the 1916 courthouse and will ring on special occasions. » Watch the video .
