The Board of County Commissioners (BCC), through the Department of Economic Sustainability (DES) has approved an $83,000 loan from the Energy Efficiency Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Revolving Loan Fund for Perfect Paradise 1, LLC. The company is initiating improvements to its 30-room hotel on Singer Island in Riviera Beach.
As part of the total $142,000 project, which includes a façade makeover supported by a grant from the city, the loan will allow the company to construct and install energy-efficient features such as new windows and doors, upgraded insulation, and Bahamian-style air-conditioning unit covers.
The EECBG Revolving Loan Fund was created through an agreement with the U.S. Department of Energy to implement an EECBG program in the amount of $6,587,600 which included a revolving loan fund for business totaling $1.1 million. The purpose of the fund is to assist businesses in carrying out energy-efficiency retrofits to effectuate savings in utility costs, reduce fossil fuel consumption, improve energy efficiency and create and/or retain jobs for local residents.
