Library System Presents “Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic and Medicine” Exhibit and Kick-off Party
Muggles of all ages are invited to experience the magic of Harry Potter as the Palm Beach County Library System hosts the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) touring exhibit: “Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine.”
The exhibit, curated by Elizabeth J. Bland of the NIH, features beautifully rendered and informative panels detailing the world of Harry Potter, with its roots in Renaissance science, medicine, history, and culture. This exhibition is sponsored by the National Library of Medicine, with support by the Friends of the Library. It was developed and produced by the National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health.
The Library System will be kicking off a month-long schedule of events for adults and children on Saturday, June 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Wellington Branch Library, 1951 Royal Fern Drive, in Wellington. The library will be transformed into Hogwarts, and a day of magical fun will be had by all. Activities include:
Renaissance Faire featuring the local group of The Society for Creative Anachronism
The Daily Prophet: Take home the latest edition of the wizarding world’s newspaper featuring a picture of you and/or your friends.
The Wellington Branch Library will be hosting more Harry Potter-related programs for both adults and children in July. Special screenings of all the Harry Potter movies will be held there and at other library locations throughout July and August. The NIH exhibit runs from June 30 through August 15.
