Commissioner Aaronson Honors Three Students During Scholarship Ceremony

Commissioner Burt Aaronson honored three Palm Beach County students who were the first recipients of scholarships from the Judge Jeffrey A. Winikoff Memorial Fund. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, July 29, in the Rose Garden of the Palm Beach County Governmental Center.  Winikoff passed away last year at 59.

Each student received $1,000 each toward their college tuition and a plaque presented by Winikoff’s wife, Ellen. The three graduates are: Inita Knox of Riviera Beach, Stephanie Gopie of Lake Worth and Elizat Baialieva of Boca Raton.

“This scholarship fund was established to recognized students committed to community service and seeking post-secondary education,” Ellen Winikoff said during the ceremony.

Dr. Sandra Richmond, Vice-Chair of The School District of Palm Beach County, said Winikoff was devoted to education.

“He worked tirelessly to ensure students got the best education possible,” said Richmond, who is also a board member of the Winikoff Memorial Fund.
