A MESSAGE FROM COMMISSIONER AARONSON

September 5th will soon arrive and with it comes the Primary Election. Candidates of both Parties will be seeking the support of their members for the general election November 7th.

Some people express indifference when it comes to voting in primary elections. Primaries offer Party members the opportunity to study their own candidates and decide which ones can best represent them. Once the slate of candidates is elected, the Party can then focus on getting its chosen candidates elected or re-elected. Just imagine how confusing the general election would be without primaries!

I urge each and every one of you to vote. No matter which party you belong to, you have the privilege, right and duty to cast your vote. Even today, there are places around the world where the people do not have the right to vote. We are very fortunate here in the United States and whether it is the Primary or General Election, we should always participate.

If you will be out of town or cannot get to the polls on September 5th, the Supervisor of Elections Office reminds us that "Any qualified Palm Beach County voter is entitled to vote an absentee ballot." The Supervisor's Office advises that "an absentee ballot may be requested in person, in writing, over the telephone or on our website (pbcelections.org)."
