Palm Tran’s Commuter Express service will begin Monday, August 24. Catering to long-distance commuters, this new express service will travel between Palm Beach and Martin counties four times per day: two morning runs from Martin to Palm Beach County and two late-afternoon runs from Palm Beach to Martin County.
The Commuter Express will originate from Halpatiokee Regional Park in Stuart and travel south via I-95, making stops at the West Jupiter Recreation Center and The Gardens mall and ending at the intermodal transit center next to the Tri-Rail station in downtown West Palm Beach. Park-and-ride lots have been established at each stop for Commuter Express passengers.
The Commuter Express is scheduled to arrive at the intermodal center in sufficient time to connect passengers with morning southbound Tri-Rail trains P609 and P615. Evening return trips depart from the intermodal after the scheduled arrival of northbound Tri-Rail trains P630 and P634.
Commuter Express passenger fares are:
- $5 for a one-day pass, which is valid for all Palm Tran routes, available only when boarding in Martin County;
- $2 per trip when boarding in Palm Beach County;
- 50 cents per trip with any valid Palm Tran pass when boarding in Palm Beach County.
These fares apply to the Commuter Express only. Commuter Express passengers boarding in Palm Beach County will pay additional fares on other Palm Tran routes.
The Commuter Express service is fully funded by a grant from the Florida Department of Transportation. Palm Tran’s hybrid buses, complete with newly installed, free Wi-Fi Internet access, will be used on the route.
