PBC Cooperative Extension Service Hosting Residential Workshop on Hazardous Tree Assessment

For immediate release: August 1, 2012
Contact: Laura Sanagorski

Urban trees provide a sense of place, beauty, increased property value, shade, habitat for wildlife, and energy savings. In an urban environment, trees grow differently than in the forest, and must be installed and cared for properly. Proper tree care is important to maintaining urban trees’ value, safety, function, and longevity in the landscape.

What constitutes a hazardous tree? Which tree is more likely to fail? What do professional arborists look for? Whether you’re looking to hire a professional or just learn more about your own trees, this workshop is a great opportunity to have these questions answered and to see structural defects and potential points of failure. The majority of the lecture and discussion will take place outdoors (weather permitting).
