The library is inherently green. Just think of all the trees we’ve saved by circulating books! This month, the Palm Beach County Library System is asking you to go green and make the switch from paper or phone notices to email. It will save staff time, postage, paper, ink and energy, too. You will also get faster notification of your items placed on hold and ready for pick up, and reminders a few days before your items are due. We’ll even let you know when your library card is about to expire.
By making the switch to email, patrons will be entered in a raffle for one of six Go Green gift bags. The bags include a Sony e-reader from Overdrive; tickets to the Palm Beach Zoo; a gift card and reusable stainless steel water bottle from Whole Foods Market in Boca Raton; a poster from Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management; a crossword or Sudoku from St. Martin’s Griffin; and a 20 oz. reusable acrylic cup and straw from the Friends of the Library.
The raffle is open to anyone who has email notification or who switches to email by 5 p.m. on August 31. If you don’t already have email notification, it’s easy to sign up. Go to www.pbclibrary.org and click on the Go Green logo. All you need is your PIN and library card number. If you don’t know your PIN, call or visit the information desk at your local branch and they’ll help you make the switch.
You can learn more about going green by attending one of our Go Green programs or by checking out some of our books and DVDs. For a complete listing of events and a list of some books that will inspire you and your family to go green, please visit www.pbclibrary.org/story-go-green-2012.htm
