Central County Redevelopment Planning Study Commencement Rescheduled

For immediate release: Date: 9-1-2006
Contact: Bryan Davis, 561-233-5308

Due to Tropical Storm Ernesto, the Palm Beach County Planning Division and the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council have rescheduled a public presentation to gain input on the recently initiated Palm Beach County Urban Redevelopment Area (URA) planning study. The session will be held on Friday, September 15, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. in Exhibit Hall A of the Clayton Hutcheson Agricultural Center, 559 N. Military Trail, West Palm Beach.

The URA is comprised of approximately 30 square miles in the heart of developed Palm Beach County. It is bounded generally by Okeechobee Boulevard on the north, I-95 on the east, Lake Worth Road on the south and Jog/Haverhill roads on the west.

The purpose of the URA study is to evaluate infrastructure, land uses, and existing conditions and make recommendations for sustainable redevelopment of the area with particular emphasis on the Military Trail and Congress Avenue corridors. Interested residents, business owners, stakeholders, municipal government officials, urban designers, planners, engineers, commercial lenders, economists and builders are encouraged to attend and provide input and ideas toward successful implementation of redevelopment initiatives. Participation of professionals and concerned citizens will play a vital role in advancing a comprehensive infill and redevelopment program for Palm Beach County.

For further information, please contact Principal Planner Bryan Davis, PBC Planning Division at 561-233-5308 bmdavis@pbcgov.com or Urban Designer Dana Little, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council at 772-221-4060 dlittle@tcrpc.org
