County Observes Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week

For Immediate Release: September 26, 2006
For more information, contact Donna Robinson, 561-233-1251

The public is invited to join staff and volunteers at Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control from Monday, October 9 through Friday, October 13, 2006 to commemorate Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week. To celebrate, pet adoptions are $20 for dogs and puppies and $10 for cats and kittens. Get a free “Spay or Neuter Your Pet” car tag and pet starter kit with each pet adoption. Pet owners can bring their cats and dogs in from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and receive a low-cost rabies vaccination, tag, and microchip for only $15.

The Board of County Commissioners has declared, by proclamation, “Animal Care and Control Appreciation Week” to be commemorated each year during this period. The proclamation recognizes the mission of Animal Care and Control to protect the welfare of the animals, encourage responsible pet ownership, provide safe shelter and veterinary care for lost, abandoned and unwanted pets, and encourage spaying and neutering through the low-cost pet sterilization mobile clinic, the Spay Shuttle.

Animal Care and Control is located at 7100 Belvedere Road, West Palm Beach, approximately five miles west of I-95. For directions and hours, call 561-233-1200 or 1272, or go to the Web site at www.pbcgov.com/pubsafety/animal.
