Animal Care & Control Offering Low-Cost Rabies Vaccination and Microchip Clinic

For immediate release: Date: October 25, 2006
Contact: Karen Buchan, Animal Care and Control 561-233-1280

Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control is providing low-cost rabies vaccinations and microchipping for dogs and cats on Saturday, November 11 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon during the Arrf-Ritis Walk. The location is at John Prince Park, 4759 S. Congress Avenue between Lake Worth Road and 6th Avenue South in Lake Worth. In celebration of Veterans Day, the special fee for the rabies vaccination is $5, the rabies license tag is $5 and the microchip is $5 per animal. All dogs must be on a leash and cats in a carrier.

Dogs and cats should be protected against rabies, a fatal disease. A rabies vaccination and tag are required by law for pets four months or older. All puppies and kittens fewer than four months are required by law to wear a Juvenile Rabies License tag. If an animal becomes lost, microchipping is good for pet identification at most veterinary offices and animal shelters.

For more information, call (561) 233-1280 or 1272, or check the shelter Web site at www.pbcgov.com/pubsafety/animal.
