Palm Tran Service Updates

For immediate release: Date: October 27, 2006
Contact: Jessica Kearney, Palm Tran 561-841-4245

During the meeting of the Palm Tran Service Board held October 19, 2006, the following changes were discussed and approved:

  • Sunday service will be eliminated on Routes 5 and 21.
  • Route 20 will be modified in order to provide service to the industrial area between RCA Boulevard and Burns Road.   Palm Tran will modify the route, eliminating the eastern segment on Burns Road and instead will serve the western segment of Burns Road including the industrial area.  Route 20 will also shift service slightly east from 10th Street, instead using Prosperity Farms Road in order to create a closer transfer connection with Palm Tran’s Route 1 service that operates via Northlake Boulevard (see attached map).
  • Route 33 will be modified to provide better service on Congress Avenue between Silver Beach Road and Northlake Boulevard.
  • The schedule for Route 41 will be modified to shorten three mid-day trips.  These three trips will terminate at Publix and will not travel to the Lake Worth Inlet (see attached map).
  • Route 42 will remain unchanged for the next four months to allow time for continued evaluation of the routes performance.

The next meeting of the Palm Tran Service Board will be held November 16.  Public comment on the proposed changes is welcomed and will be accepted at the meeting.  Comments may also be sent in by mail to Palm Tran’s main office at 3201 Electronics Way, West Palm Beach, Florida, 33407.  The changes are scheduled to take effect in January 2007.
