Commissioner Koons Addresses CCRT Community Connections

On October 13, BCC Chairman Jeff Koons was a featured speaker at the Countywide Community Redevelopment Team’s (CCRT) second Community Connections meeting. About 30 neighborhood organizers and volunteers attended the gathering at the Vista Center. It was hosted by the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR).

Discussion topics included economic development and federal monies for green initiatives, the URA (urban redevelopment area), community services, neighborhood partnership grants, and the need for a systematic approach to revitalization.

There was also a presentation by Housing Partnership, Inc. on foreclosure prevention and what steps to take if you have been served or are in danger of losing your home.

Community Connections was created as a means for commissioners to speak directly with constituents about revitalization opportunities in their districts.
