The Palm Beach County Building Division has been awarded a Class 2 rating on the Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule (BCEGS) from the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The classification is based on a scale of 1-10 with Class 1 being the highest possible rating.
The county’s excellent rating is based upon a rigorous evaluation and represents exemplary commitment to building code enforcement. “This recognizes the outstanding effort of our Building Division professionals in making sure the residents of Palm Beach County are safe and secure in their built environment,” said Building Official Rebecca Caldwell.
ISO provides advisory insurance underwriting and rating information to insurers. A high rating can mean better insurance rates for consumers in jurisdictions with well-enforced, up-to-date codes. For insurers who use the ISO rating program, credits may be applied to new construction that has been issued a certificate of occupancy.
BCEGS ratings are reevaluated approximately every five years. This year’s Class 2 rating is the highest mark ever for the Building Division.
