Cooperative Extension Service Offering Fertilizer Applicator Certification Workshop in SpanishAnyone who applies fertilizer commercially to an urban landscape is required to receive training and certification in green industries best management practices (BMP) by Jan. 1, 2014. The intent is to help preserve and protect our water resources. Certification workshops are being offered by the University of Florida IFAS/Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service. Topics covered in the training include proper fertilization and rates, application methods, pest management, irrigation, cultural practices and types of fertilizers. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants take the certification test. A Spanish-language certification class will be held on Oct. 14 at the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service Agriculture Exhibit Hall, 559 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person.
