Halloween Events at County Parks

Movie Night - Blackbeard’s Ghost (PG)
When:  Friday, Oct. 14, 7:30 p.m.
Where: Sunset Cove Amphitheater, South County Regional Park west of Boca Raton
This is an amusing tale of the notorious pirate Blackbeard whose spirit is cursed to wander in limbo until he performs a good deed. When the local college’s harried track coach accidentally conjures up the ghost, strange and funny things occur as the well-intentioned pirate does his best to help the coach’s comically inept team while the coach searches for a way to rid himself of his new-found companion. Picnic baskets and lawn chairs are welcome. No pets please. Free admission and parking.

Pet-a-Palooza  (presented by CBS Radio)
When:  Saturday, Oct. 22, 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.
WhereSeabreeze Amphitheater, Carlin Park, Jupiter

Third Annual Pumpkin Patch and Concert
When:  Sat, Oct. 22, 4 - 8 p.m.
WhereCanyon Town Center Amphitheater west of Boynton Beach
Enjoy picking out your special pumpkin from 4 to 6 p.m., making arts and crafts and much more. Bring your camera and take your family portrait in the pumpkin patch. Stay for a concert from 6 to 8 p.m. featuring Stirling Road, a 3-piece pop-rock band playing all original tunes. Bring lawn chairs and picnic baskets. Pets on leashes welcome. Free admission.

Superintendant’s Revenge
When:  Wednesday, Oct. 26, 5 p.m.
WherePark Ridge Golf Course west of Lake Worth
All Tricks, No Treats - 2-person, 9-hole scramble. Wear a costume to receive one mulligan. 
Fee:  $20/person includes dinner and prizes.

Haunted Hammock Kids Halloween Party (all ages)
When:  Friday, Oct. 28, 2 to 7 p.m. 
WhereLoxahatchee River Center, Burt Reynolds Park, Jupiter
This “spook”tacular event will feature many kids activities, including creepy crafts, ghostly games, trick or treating, a bounce house, a hay ride and more! Refreshments including spooky snacks and drinking draughts will be available for purchase during the party. Call 743-7123 for more information.
Fee:   $5/child

Halloween ‘BOO’ardwalk (ages 3+)
When:  Friday, Oct. 28, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
WhereDaggerwing Nature Center, South County Regional Park west of Boca Raton
Come in costume for some family-friendly, non-scary Halloween fun! Walk the indoor and outdoor ‘BOO’ardwalk and participate in crafts and activities while learning about Halloween creatures such as bats, owls and spiders. Call the nature center at 629-8760 for more information. No reservations needed. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Free admission.

Pumpkin Plunge!
When:  Saturday, Oct. 29, noon - 2 p.m.
WhereNorth County Aquatic Complex, Jupiter
Enjoy Halloween games and crafts including pumpkin water polo, monster races, pumpkin decorating, pin-the-mouth-on-the-ghost and more! Bring a swimsuit; costumes encouraged. Free pumpkins for the first 160 guests!
Fee:  $3/person; free for ages 3 and under

Glow Golf Tournament and Barbecue at John Prince Golf Learning Center
WhereJohn Prince Golf Learning Center, John Prince Park, Lake Worth
When: Saturday, Oct. 29, 4 to 9 p.m.
Golf tournament:  Putting contest, best jack o’ lantern contest and free candy.
Fee:  $7/entry; $5/JGFA members 
Barbeque:  There will be a chipping contest, lucky orange ball prizes, costume contests and smashing jack o’ lanterns game. Get a free small bucket of balls if you bring a carved pumpkin. Call 966-6666 for more information.
Fee:  $5/person or free with purchase of large bucket of golf balls

Halloween Splashtacular (all ages)
When:  Saturday, Oct. 29, 6 to 8 p.m.
WhereAqua Crest Pool, Delray Beach
There will be a costume contest, trick or treat, games, prizes, food and more! Cotton candy, popcorn and snow cones concession will be available.
Fee:  $2/person, ages 2 and under free

Animal Encounters:  Spooky Creatures (all ages)
When:  Saturday, Oct. 29, 1 p.m.
Where:  Daggerwing Nature Center, South County Regional Park
Take an up-close look at some animals. Learn about owls, snakes, bats, spiders and other “spooky” animals. Program also includes artifacts, pictures and fun facts to help learn about the animals’ natural history and how we can help their wild relatives!
Fee:  $3 per person (reservations required)

Halloween Parent-Child Scramble
(Juniors age 17 and under)
When:  Sunday, Oct. 30, 4 p.m. shotgun start
(Preregistration required.)
WhereOkeeheelee Golf Course, Okeeheelee Park, west of West Palm Beach
This is a great opportunity to play in a fun environment with your family. There will be a 9-hole scramble, 9-hole putting contest, dinner, giveaways, costume contest, and prizes. Call 964-4653 for details.
Fee:  $25/team
