In partnership with the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County continues its Schools and Pools program by providing free introductory swimming lessons during school hours for kindergartners at Plumosa Elementary School of the Arts, a Title 1 School.
Drowning incidents occur year-round in Palm Beach County. Therefore, it is imperative that children continue learning swimming skills throughout the year.
The Drowning Prevention Coalition has taken a proactive approach to preventing water-related injuries by implementing the Schools and Pools program. Over a period of two weeks, approximately 44 kindergartners will receive introductory swimming lessons that are 30 to 45 minutes long. Upon successful completion of these lessons, students will participate in an awards ceremony and receive certificates and other items for their participation.
Please call the Drowning Prevention Coalition of Palm Beach County at (561) 616-7068 if you have any questions regarding this program. The Coalition is directly funded by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners and the Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County.
