County Dedicates Bronze Busts Honoring Veterans

A Veterans Day Observance was held on November 11, 2006 at Palm Beach County’s Veterans Park in Boca Raton. Five life-sized bronze busts were dedicated as part of the annual ceremony honoring those in all branches of the military.

The project was supported by Commissioner Burt Aaronson’s Recreation Assistance Program funds and coordinated by Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program. Artist and Air Force veteran Harrison Covington was commissioned to create realistic busts to memorialize the men and women of Palm Beach County who have served our country as officers in the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Guest speakers included WAC Commander Josephine Anton, Cadet Michael Lima of the Civil Air Patrol and Sheriff Department Capt. Paul Miles. Commissioner Burt Aaronson was the featured speaker and was presented with a certificate and commemorative award as a token of appreciation for his efforts in creating the memorial dedicated to the County’s veterans. After the ceremony, a picnic-style lunch was served to guests.
