County Commissioner Warren H. Newell will present Palm Beach County’s property tax reform proposals to the Governor’s Property Tax Reform Committee in Tampa on Friday, November 17, 2006. The meeting will be held in the Hillsborough County Commission Chambers, 601 East Kennedy Boulevard, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The property Tax Reform Committee was created by Governor Bush to conduct studies on the consequences of property tax exemptions and the affordability and economic consequences of property taxation levels in Florida. The committee will make recommendations to the governor, president of the Senate, speaker of the house and chairman of the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission on proposed legislation or constitutional amendments.
Initiatives to amend the Florida Constitution as it relates to the portability of the Save Our Homes Act would ultimately be in the hands of Florida voters in the form of a referendum on the 2008 ballot.
