Commissioner McCarty Recognizes Alzheimer’s Awareness Month

At the November 6, 2007 Board of County Commissioner’s meeting, Commissioner McCarty was pleased to present a proclamation declaring November 2007 as “Alzheimer’s Awareness Month” in Palm Beach County.  The proclamation recognizes that more than 480,000 Floridians have Alzheimer’s disease, or a related disorder, including 61,000 in Palm Beach County.  Accepting the proclamation were Clark Bennett, Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors, and Mary Barnes, President and CEO of Alzheimer’s Community Care (ACC).  ACC, a local organization, has developed innovative and proven programs that have served thousands of families countywide such as daycare, a 24-hour crisis line, caregiver support groups and many other services.  For additional information, please contact ACC at 561-683-2700 or visit www.alzcare.org.
