BCC BriefsAt the November 3, 2009, Board of County Commissioners meeting, the board took the following action: JILONA – received a report by the Federal Bureau of Land Management on the draft management plan for the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area (JILONA). Lobbyists – approved consulting/professional services contracts totaling $230,000 for state lobbying on behalf of Palm Beach County through Sept. 30, 2010; also extended the contract with U.S. Strategies Corp. in the amount of $96,000 for federal lobbying on behalf of the county through Sept. 30, 2010. Advisory Boards – directed staff to draft an amendment to the BCC advisory board application to include disclosure of past felonies. Sheriff’s Office – accepted a Bureau of Justice Assistance Bulletproof Vest Partnership Grant in the amount of $30,432 to purchase 43 bulletproof vests. SunPass – approved an agreement with FDOT to enable customers to pay for parking at Palm Beach International Airport using their SunPass account at no extra charge. The system should be in place by early 2010. Roads – approved on preliminary reading and advertised for public hearing on November 17 an ordinance establishing an amended five-year road program, including a final list of proposed projects for the next five years. Water Utilities - approved on preliminary reading and advertised for public hearing on November 17 an ordinance providing for a revised rate schedule for reclaimed water services, including new connection fees. Water restrictions caused a significant increase in the number of reclaimed water users who previously paid no connection fees. Under the revised rates, new reclaimed water customers will pay a connection fee, but lower monthly base facility fees. Film Festival – approved a grant agreement in the amount of $27,000 with the Palm Beach International Film Festival for operations, revenue generation, student scholarships and economic development. Annexation – approved an interlocal agreement with the Village of Palm Springs for the annexation of two enclaves less than 10 acres in size located on the north and south sides of Dale Road west of Kirk Road. # # #
