The Palm Beach County Economic Development Office will be accepting applications for the Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EEC) Competitive Grant Program beginning Friday, December 4, 2009, and closing on Friday, January 8, 2010, at 5 p.m.
This program provides an opportunity on a competitive basis for the implementation of eligible projects by local governmental organizations that did not receive a formula-based award through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program under the U.S. Department of Energy.
EEC grants assist eligible entities in reducing fossil fuel emissions, improving energy efficiency, increasing environmental sustainability and maximizing benefits to the public. The program will focus on retrofitting existing public facilities to improve energy efficiency, reducing energy consumption and creating energy savings by completing efficiency improvements within the building and other sectors. Project activities are subject to the Davis-Bacon and Buy American acts.
Interested parties are encouraged to attend a workshop on December 1, 2009, at 9 a.m., at the County Cooperative Extension Service, Exhibit Hall A, 559 N. Military Trail, in West Palm Beach. Applications are available on the Economic Development Office’s Web site, www.pbcgov.com/edo.
