Commissioner Koons Speaks on the County’s Efforts to End Homelessness

A press conference was held Nov. 16 in the Rose Garden of the Governmental Center to provide an update on the Palm Beach County Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness and to announce upcoming events during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, Nov. 15 – 21, 2009.  As chairman of the Palm Beach County Homeless Advisory Board, Commissioner Koons spoke on the county’s progress and ongoing efforts to eliminate homelessness in our county.

Other speakers included:  School Board Member Paulette Burdick, Department of Children and Families Southeast Regional Director Perry Borman, Community Food Alliance Director Alex Stevens, Community Outreach and Public Awareness Committee Chairman Ezra Krieg and Homeless Advisory Board Vice Chairman Leo Abdella.

At the press conference, a new Internet “landing page” page was announced that offers videos and information about the Ten-Year Plan to End Homelessness.  The Web site provides networking and volunteer opportunities.  For more information, visit www.TheHomelessPlan.org.
