Ceremony of the new Ocean Ridge National Area (ORNA)

On December 5, 2006, Commissioner McCarty officiated at the dedication ceremony of the new Ocean Ridge National Area (ORNA). ORNA consists of 4.5 acres of a pristine open water area and mangroves preserving a natural habitat for fisheries and wildlife. The new facility includes a 2-story observation desk, educating kiosks, 1,300 ft. concrete nature trail, boardwalk, boat basin and day-use dock with nine slips. This was a successful collaboration of efforts that included the Town of Ocean Ridge and the Department of Environmental Protection agency.
