WHERE: Kathryn E. Cunningham/Canal Point Elementary School, 37000 Main St. Canal Point, FL

The Palm Beach County Office of Community Revitalization (OCR) is hosting a community-visioning workshop for the future revitalization of Canal Point in western Palm Beach County. Those attending will have the opportunity to express their concerns on issues affecting the Canal Point community and provide input as to what they feel is needed to improve the quality of life in the area. Additionally, participants will develop a vision of what they would like this community to look like and identify the opportunities for revitalization.

A successful community workshop is dependent upon the widespread participation of the community. It will be a collaborative process, which will be action-oriented and tailored to the unique needs of this community revitalization area. In August 2003, the Board of County Commissioners identified these areas as a high priority in which to focus community revitalization efforts.

Information gathered at this event will be utilized to create a community vision and a neighborhood action plan that formulates strategies to improve the overall condition of Canal Point. A follow-up public meeting will be scheduled at a later date so the public may review the draft plan. Eventually, after all comments are received and incorporated, the final plan will be adopted by the community as a guide upon which to base future revitalization efforts.
The event is open to the public including all residents, business owners, and others who have an interest in the future of this area. Facilitators and materials will be available in Spanish, English and Creole. Breakfast, lunch and snacks will be provided.

Questions regarding this project may be directed to Audley G. Reid, Senior Planner, Office of Community Revitalization, at 233-5567.
