Commissioners Support Public Walking Trails at Pine Jog Environmental Education Center

Commissioners Jeff Koons and Mary McCarty, along with Pat Welch, executive director of the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center Board of Directors and Board Chairman Robert Diffenderfer, recently cut the ribbon to break ground on a comprehensive public trail system at the Pine Jog Environmental Education Center.

Located on 150 acres of land on Summit Boulevard, Pine Jog is a unit of FAU’s College of Education. It provides programs that foster an awareness and appreciation of the natural world, promote an understanding of ecological concepts and instill a sense of stewardship toward the earth.

Pine Jog’s public trail system will consist of more than three miles of walking trails and a boardwalk surrounding a pond and wetland located on the nature habitat. The public trail system is being funded with donations from Palm Beach County and the private sector.
