Water Issues Discussed at April Community Forum

More than 100 west-central area residents learned about the critical water shortage facing South Florida at the April 18 Community Forum hosted by Commissioner Jess Santamaria.

A series of expert speakers explained the short-range and long-range ramifications of the drought, individual responsibilities with regard to water-use restrictions, and the need for each of us to employ good water conservation practices. The forum was held in the center court of the original Wellington Mall.

Speakers included Palm Beach County Water Utilities Director Bevin Beaudet, Ken Adams, former County Commissioner and former member of the South Florida Water Management District’s Board of Governors, Fred Rapach of the South Florida Water Management District Service, and respected environmentalist Rosa Durando.
