Palm Tran to Attend Mobility Planning ConferenceFor immediate release: April 24, 2007
|
Representatives from Palm Tran and Palm Tran CONNECTION have been chosen to attend the Easter Seals Project Action's sixth annual Mobility Planning Services (MPS) Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. Twenty teams from around the nation will come together May 14-17, 2007, to share ideas and propose solutions for transportation needs. According to Easter Seals, priorities among this year’s teams include strategies for increasing funding, community awareness and support for public transportation, as well as increasing options through public, private and human service transportation coordination. Bus familiarization, travel training and other customer supports for using transportation are also areas of interest. The selected teams will each receive up to $4,250 funding for travel and lodging, followed by 12 months of technical assistance to implement plans created by each team. There are no registration or tuition costs, so there is no expense to the team members other than any travel costs in excess of the stipend.
