Commissioner Koons Presides at REAP Graduation

Commissioner Jeff Koons was a guest speaker at the first-ever REAP graduation luncheon on April 27. REAP stands for Resident Education to Action Program and is coordinated by the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR). The six-week, hands-on course emphasizes the importance of being a knowledgeable neighbor.

Volunteers learn about the kinds of government resources available, obtaining grants and draft plans, and make meaningful decisions to improve their neighborhood. REAP projects include installing new sidewalks, landscaping and fencing, and building small parks and playgrounds. A total of 56 citizens received certificates, and there were eight special awards presented for America’s Next Top Neighborhood.
