On May 16, the Palm Beach County Department of Public Affairs was recognized at the 2007 Governor’s Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale for its 2006 public outreach campaign on hurricane preparedness.
Special Projects Manager John Jamason accepted the Public Education/Information Award on behalf of Director Beth Ingold-Love and the entire Public Affairs staff.
The Palm Beach County Public Safety Department nominated Public Affairs for its comprehensive effort. The campaign included a 32-page Hurricane Survival Guide, new TV programs and public service announcements produced and aired by Channel 20, refrigerator magnets and portable radios with important phone numbers residents may need before, during and after a storm, and special events including a visit by the Hurricane Hunters.
The new 2007 Hurricane Survival Guide will soon be available at County branch libraries.
