Commissioner Warren Newell has announced his support for the request from the Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) for financial assistance in its 10th Avenue North – Gateways Roadway Improvement Project. Responding to a request letter from Rachel Bach, Executive Director, LWCRA, Commissioner Newell has agreed to recommend to the Board of County Commissioners a pledge of $250,000 from the Gas Tax Allocation Funds for this project. According to Bach, “These are much needed improvements that will not only repair aging infrastructure but also set the stage for redevelopment along this corridor. Commissioner Newell’s support throughout this project is much appreciated and will be a win-win for the County and the City of Lake Worth.” The Gateways Project consists of a complete reconstruction of 10th Avenue North from Dixie Highway to A Street, just east of I-95. It will include a new roadway, sidewalks, traffic signals, curb and gutter as well as water, sewer and storm water improvements. The CRA is also planning to improve the appearance of this important “gateway” to the City through the construction of landscaped medians and swales as well as decorative lighting, neighborhood entry features and the under grounding of all overhead utilities. |
