New teaching facility promises friendly,
non-intimidating atmosphere to learn the game of golf
Palm Beach County officials will open the John Prince Golf Learning Center this Friday, June 8, at 10:00 am, and the celebration will continue throughout the weekend.
Palm Beach County’s newest golf facility is located west of Lake Worth in John Prince Park. It includes a driving range with seven target greens, 42 grass hitting stations, 16,000 square feet of practice putting/chipping greens, a practice fairway bunker, and three regulation practice holes—two par 3’s and one par 4. Officials promise a friendly, non-intimidating, and enjoyable atmosphere to learn and practice the game of golf.
The opening celebration will include a demonstration area sponsored by Golf Professional Services, Inc., and free junior putting, chipping, and full swing clinics. Golfers looking to practice their swing can enjoy free balls on the driving range from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Friday! Information about the wide variety of services offered at the John Prince Golf Learning Center, as well as upcoming summer programs, will also be available, and those interested in participating will be able to register on the spot.
The mission of the John Prince Golf Learning Center will be to grow the game of golf in Palm Beach County. To that end, the facility has partnered with Golf Professional Services and the Junior Golf Foundation of America to provide a comprehensive education and development program for area youth, instilling important life values such as honor, integrity, self-discipline, pride, respect, and sportsmanship, in addition to the necessary athletic skills.
Extensive programming will also be available for adults. Services will include private and semiprivate golf lessons, group lessons and clinics, video analysis and club fitting, and golf schools. A state-of-the-art launch monitor system will also be available. A full service golf/snack shop will accommodate golf equipment and apparel needs.
Special Olympic golf athletes will also enjoy training and tournament competition at the new John Prince Golf Learning Center. Golf Professional Services owner Donna H. White has served on the Special Olympics International Golf Committee for over a decade. She travels throughout the world training and educating golf professionals about methods of teaching the game of golf to people with intellectual disabilities. She received special recognition in 1999 when she was inducted into the Special Olympics-Palm Beach County Hall of Fame. Golf Professional Services will team up with Palm Beach County on Sunday, July 8, to host the Special Olympic County Games at the John Prince Golf Learning Center.
The John Prince Golf Learning Center is located at 4754 South Congress Avenue in Lake Worth. Directions: on the east side of Congress Avenue between Lantana Road and 6th Avenue South.
