Lake Worth Lagoon Management Plan
|
The first revision of the draft 2007 Lake Worth Lagoon Management Plan has been released and is now available on line. To view the plan, go to: http://www.co.palm-beach.fl.us/erm and follow the link “Hot Topics” to the plan update. The revised 2007 Lake Worth Lagoon Management Plan will serve as a blueprint in managing and restoring the Lake Worth Lagoon in the next five years. The updated plan includes implementation of action items (action plans) that will require the concurrence and cooperation of a number of other agencies, including local governments, non-governmental organizations and state and federal agencies such as the South Florida the Water Management District, FloridaDepartment of Environmental Protection, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Florida Inland Navigation District, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Inclusion of these action items in the management plan represents a commitment on the part of Palm Beach County to partner with the other local, state and federal agencies to ensure the necessary steps are taken to enhance, protect, and restore the Lake Worth Lagoon. Because of the importance of citizens’ participation in implementing each action item, public review of and comments on the draft plan is important to us. “Listening Meetings” are being scheduled to receive feedback on the 2007 Lake Worth Lagoon Management Plan draft. The date of the first Listening Meeting is Wednesday, June 27, 2007, 3-7 pm, at Palm Beach County’s Vista Center Complex, 2300 North Jog Road, 1st Floor Public Meeting Room, West Palm Beach. Comments on the draft management plan will also be accepted via email at LWLMP@co.palm-beach.fl.us. The deadline for providing comments is July 2, 2007.
