Commissioner Koons and John Marshall, president of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation |
Commissioner Koons and about 40 volunteers braved the heat on July 21 to help rejuvenate a wetlands area on the grounds of the South Florida Science Museum. Commissioner Koons and U.S. Rep. Ron Klein, along with local Boy Scouts, environmentalists and families removed exotic vegetation behind and replanted cypress trees, cocoplum and other native plants. Commissioner Koons serves as a trustee on the Science Museum’s board of directors. The wetland area will be used to help educate visitors about Florida’s unique ecosystems.
