Public Meeting August 14 for Proposed State Road 7 Corridor Master Plan in Central Palm Beach CountyPalm Beach County and the municipalities of Royal Palm Beach, Wellington and Greenacres are coordinating the preparation of a proposed State Road 7/US 441 Corridor Master Plan. The study area generally consists of the properties that front or are adjacent to State Road 7 (SR7) between Okeechobee Boulevard and Lantana Road. Other properties immediately adjacent to SR7 and with the potential for significant traffic impacts within the corridor have been added at the request of the participating local governments. The purpose of the plan is to coordinate and guide long-range land-use and transportation planning along the corridor. The plan is required to comply with Transportation Element Policy 1.1-n in the Palm Beach County Comprehensive Plan. This policy requires the preparation and adoption of corridor master plans for specific roadways in the county by Dec. 31, 2007. The proposed corridor master plan will address the future use of land within the study area. It specifically focuses on future uses of vacant properties that have redevelopment potential. A result of the plan may be to establish a new level-of-service (LOS) standard for future traffic in the corridor. Important aspects of the plan are to establish an appropriate balance of land uses and to recommend traffic mitigation strategies to maintain good mobility within the corridor. Such strategies may include land-use modifications, connectivity, mixed-use development patterns, alternative modes of transportation, and increased roadway capacity. The participating local governments are conducting an informational meeting with the owners and residents of affected properties located within the SR7 study area. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information regarding the proposed master plan and to solicit input from the public regarding any future development or redevelopment plans for individual properties. Staff will be available to provide information and receive input during the day. Additionally, there will be three (3) scheduled presentations.
Questions or comments regarding the public meeting or proposed master plan should be directed to the Palm Beach County Planning Division at 561-233-5300 during normal business hours, except holidays.
