|
Starting this September, the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service will offer the Florida Master Naturalist Program. This field-based adult education program, developed by the University of Florida (UF), promotes awareness, understanding, and respect of Florida's natural world among Florida's citizens. Class topics include concepts of ecosystem processes, identification of key plants and wildlife, and the role of humans in shaping Florida’s environment. Registration is now open for the Freshwater Wetlands course, offered this September and October. Course participants meet for six Saturdays at the Palm Beach County Cooperative Extension Service, Mounts Building Auditorium, 531 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach. The course includes a combination of classroom learning and field trips to local natural areas. The cost per course is $225. Participants receive detailed course manuals and, upon completion, a certificate, patch, and pin denoting their area of expertise, Wetlands Naturalist. Participation is limited to 20 persons.
