For Immediate Release on: September 27, 2007
Contact: Elayna Toby Singer 561-233-0235

Meet the Artist—Finalist Announcement to the Public

When:  Saturday, Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m.
Where Palm Beach County Convention Center, 650 Okeechobee Blvd., West Palm Beach, Rm. 1BC, First Floor
What The artist selected for the Exterior Light Public Art Project will be announced.  The public can meet the artist who will present his/her public art design and take questions.

On Saturday, Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., the public is invited to meet the selected artist for the Exterior Light Public Art Project and give input to his/her proposed design. The artist will present a 3-D model and multi-media simulation of the design, an eye-catching, memorable gateway to Palm Beach County and the City of West Palm Beach for hundreds of thousands of residents and visitors to enjoy.

After the artist’s presentation to the public, Art in Public Places Administrator Elayna Toby Singer will facilitate a feedback discussion about the proposed design so that suggestions may be incorporated.

“Public art is as much about engaging people in the process of making art as it is about the completed art itself,” encourages Ms. Singer. “We hope the community takes advantage of this opportunity to creatively work together and artistically influence their environment.”

The event is sponsored by Palm Beach County’s Art in Public Places program and Palm Beach County’s Public Art Committee that selected the two semi-finalists for the project.   The Committee will meet on Friday, Sept. 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the Governmental Center (301 N. Olive, West Palm Beach) to make their final selection.

Note:  Complimentary parking is available.  Please tell attendants that you are there for the Public Art event.
