Emergency Operations Center Maintaining Level 3 (Monitoring)
Palm Beach County officials are monitoring Tropical Storm Noel, but there has been no activation of the Emergency Operations Center.
Tropical Storm Noel is forecast to move west northwest near the north central coast of Cuba through tonight, then emerge over the Atlantic waters early Wednesday as it approaches the northwest Bahamas. Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts of 40 to 45 mph will continue this evening through overnight. Therefore, a wind advisory is in effect for the southeast Florida metro areas through at least Wednesday.
The increasing winds will result in seas of 10 to 12 feet in the Atlantic near shore waters. A Coastal Flood Warning is in effect for the Palm Beach County coast for the potential of severe beach erosion and flooding, especially for areas from Palm Beach Shores north to Jupiter.
Based on the 11 AM conference call with National Hurricane Center, County offices as well as public schools will be open on Wednesday.
