Ants Depart PBIA for Dubai
Bronze “Ant Colony” Travels Abroad

Soon, Palm Beach International Airport will be “ant less” – it’s time for the much adored bronze “Ant Colony” sculptures to travel abroad to the Cuadro Fine Art Gallery in Dubai, United Arab Emirates where they will be exhibited March 19-22, 2008.
The sculptures, created by local Palm Beach artist Susan P. Cochran, were on loan for the past 14 months. The five larger-than-life ants have been enjoyed by hundreds of thousand of local residents and visitors while on display in the open grassy near PBIA’s Park & Ride.
In the next two months, Ms. Cochran will clean and re-paint the bronze ant sculptures which range in height from three to seven feet and up to 25 feet in length. The largest, the queen, weighs in at a hefty 7,500 pounds.
