The Palm Beach County 4-H program will hold the first 4-H Gingerbread Competition on Nov. 17, 2007 from noon to 2 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension campus at 559 N. Military Trail, Exhibit Hall B, West Palm Beach.
County Commissioner Addie L. Greene and community notables will be the very first team of judges to determine which participant or team is most creative and which gingerbread structure is most enduring.
The 4-H youth will be able to compete as individuals or in teams. They will construct the edible art on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Entries must be made of gingerbread, and all materials must be edible. Contestants cannot use plastic, wood or tape. The structures must be no larger than 12” x 12” and must include the 4-H insignia. Entries must be finished and standing tall for the judges to view and score on Saturday.
This will be a sweet competition made even sweeter with first and second place awards of $100 and $75 in savings bonds for individual winners or a $100 cash award to a team that would be used for their 4-H club annual project activities.
