Commissioner Bob Kanjian was the opening keynote speaker at a recent "Green Government" luncheon hosted by Florida Public Utilities in West Palm Beach.  Most attendees were publicly elected officials or executives from Palm Beach County, the County's 38 municipalities or the South Florida Water Management District.

Commissioner Kanjian spoke about the importance of the government creating green initiatives and green policies for improving conservation and sustainability.  He said, "Government must lead the way and, in turn, demonstrate leadership."  As an example, he noted that he was the chairman of the County's newly created Green Building Task Force which is presently in its formative stages.  One issue the task force is examining is how to incentivize the construction of new buildings or retrofitting existing buildings to modern green standards.  He invited all interested attendees to contact his office to become involved and participate in the work of the task force.
