Q. What is Agricultural Classification?
A. Agricultural classification is granted to land that under certain circumstances qualifies as farm or ranch land. In some cases, the Property Appraiser’s Office may deny an Agricultural Classification. To qualify for Agricultural Classification, property owners must file an application each year between January 1 and March 1. Q. How is farmland assessed?
A. Deputy Appraisers estimate production, income, expense and acreage. The taxable value of the land is based on income earned from the commercial sale of produce that is grown or livestock that is raised on the land.
