Property Appraiser’s Office Awards Scholarships

Property Appraiser Gary R. Nikolits, CFA, is happy to announce that the 2012 applications for $1,000 college scholarship are now being accepted.

The 2012 scholarship application is available to download from this website. Students can also get applications from their school guidance counselors. The deadline to submit the application is March 31, 2012. An employee committee will review the applications and five scholarships will be awarded in May. The scholarships are funded by volunteer employee donations to Friday Casual Dress Day.

To be eligible for consideration, a student must be a resident of Palm Beach County and have a 3.0 GPA. The college they plan to attend must be accredited. For more information, call (561) 355-3230.

The 2011 awardees were:

• Barry Johnson II, graduating from Glades Day in Belle Glade, he plans to attend Florida Gulf Coast University to major in Criminology.



• Christina Joyner, graduating from John I. Leonard in West Palm Beach, she plans to attend Palm Beach State College to major in Nursing and Communications.



• Lindsay Lowy, graduating from Olympic Heights in Boca Raton, plans to attend Florida Atlantic University to major in Speech Therapy and Sports Management.



• Denise Robinson, graduating from Lake Worth High School, plans to attend the University of Florida, to major in Medical Sciences and Business.



• Hailee Sapp, of Lake Worth, is graduating from Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of Arts, and plans to attend the University of Florida to major in Nursing.
