School Program Docent
Help lead morning nature programs for elementary through high school classes.

  • Birds and Butterflies
  • Animal Homes
  • Ecosystems
  • Pond Exploring
  • Marine Science
All docents will receive a manual and accompany experienced docents before leading a group.

Front Desk Greeter

  • Greet visitors
  • Answer questions
  • Answer phones
  • Make gift shop sales.
All volunteers will be trained by staff and will work with other volunteers.

Exhibit Docent

  • Inform and educate visitors
    1. Geological History
    2. Major ecosystems
    3. Native Wildlife
  • Display Natural artifacts and live animals

Habitat Management Assistant

  • Work outdoors
  • Remove invasive plants
  • Maintain nest boxes
  • Training and equipment provided
  • Flexible hours

Animal Caretaker

  • Prepare diets
  • Clean bird and reptile enclosures
  • Help maintain aquariums
  • Flexible hours

Nature Walk Guide

  • Lead nature walks on weekends and holidays for the general public.
  • Training provided

Newsletter Assistant

  • Write articles
  • Assist with research
  • Work with staff to develop quarterly newsletter
  • Equipment provided
  • Flexible hours

Butterfly Gardner

  • Work outdoors in our butterfly garden caring for plants
  • Manage our butterfly enclosure ensuring proper food plants for caterpillars and butterflies.
  • Equipment provided
  • Flexible hours

Research Assistant

  • Work outdoors
  • Collect data on Gopher Tortoises
  • Compile species list
  • Training and equipment provided
  • Flexible hours
