Program Calendar

 

Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). Please call if you are not able to attend the program to allow those on the waiting list to attend. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

Participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form upon arrival to the program. Program fees are due upon arrival to the program.

DAILY ANIMAL FEEDINGS

  • Daily when the center is open 3:15-3:30 p.m.
    Families / All Ages, FREE (Reservations NOT Required)
    3:15pm is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about a specific animal and then watch while they are fed.

    • Wednesday – Alligator
    • Thursday – Snake
    • Friday – Skunk
    • Saturday - Alligator

QI GONG- A FORM OF CHI

  • Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.
    Adults, $40/month, FREE introductory class (Reservations required – call 561-419-5403)

    Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Mother Nature and Me series are designed to introduce toddlers and preschoolers to nature through experiential and interactive learning that is fun for grownups too!  Please RSVP as space is limited.

  • AMAZING ADAPTATIONS a Naturalist Program
    Saturday, May 14, 10:30 a.m.
    All ages, $3/participant (Reservations required)
    Throughout the natural world there are animals that have had to learn to adapt to their environment.  Come and join our naturalist and learn why birds come in different shapes and sizes, why some animals can camouflage themselves, and learn many other interesting things that animals have evolved to survive.

  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: CATS IN HATS

    Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

  • NIGHT HIKE
    Friday, May 27, 8:00 p.m.
    All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
    Always wondered what Daggerwing’s boardwalk would be like after dark? Here is your chance to find out!  Join our Naturalist-guided boardwalk tour at night to look for the shining eyes of nocturnal wildlife and listen for the calls of both predators and prey that use the darkness to their advantage.  This program offers a new perspective on the wetlands surrounding Daggerwing Nature Center.  Space is limited, please RSVP. *Be sure to bring bug spray and a flashlight

  • BIRDING 101 a Naturalist Program
    Saturday, May 28, 10:30 a.m.
    All ages; $3/participant (Reservations Required)
    Do you like wild birds? Come and learn about the exciting hobby of bird watching. Join our Naturalist for a family friendly program that will teach you how to use binoculars and field guides and then we will put those skills to use on our boardwalk. **feel free to bring your own binoculars


JUNE

  • BUTTERFLY GARDENINGa Naturalist Program
    Saturday, June 4, 10:30 a.m.
    All Ages, $3/participant (Reservations Required)
    Join a naturalist as they teach which plants to add to a home-made garden that will attract a multitude of species. Afterwards, enjoy a tour of the Daggerwing Nature Center butterfly garden.

  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: STORMY WEATHER

    Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)

  • FISHING FUN
    Wednesday, June 29, 10:00 a.m.
    Ages 8+, $10/participant (Reservations Required)
    Learn the basics for freshwater fishing and practice new learned skills. Class includes: fishing pole basics, casting tips, and freshwater fish identification. All fishing supplies are provided. Please bring a water bottle, sun protection, and closed-toed shoes (or water shoes) that can get wet/muddy.
