Program Calendar

 

Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). Please call if you are not able to attend the program to allow those on the waiting list to attend. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

Participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form upon arrival to the program. Program fees are due upon arrival to the program.

DAILY ANIMAL FEEDINGS

  • Daily when the center is open 3:15-3:30 p.m.
    Families / All Ages, FREE (Reservations NOT Required)
    3:15pm is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about a specific animal and then watch while they are fed.

    • Wednesday – Alligator
    • Thursday – Snake
    • Friday – Skunk
    • Saturday - Alligator


QI GONG- A FORM OF TAI CHI

  • Saturdays, 9:00 a.m.
    Adults, $40/month, FREE introductory class (Reservations required – call 561-419-5403)

  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: BUTTERFLIES AND BEES
    Tuesday, July 5 at 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

  • GEOCACHING BY BIKE
    Wednesday, July 6 at 10:00 a.m.
    All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
    Come integrate modern technology with the exploration of nature.  This BYOB* activity provides a chance for families to get outside and ride together while participating in the world-wide scavenger hunt called geocaching.  Learn how to use a GPS hand held unit or bring your own smart phone with the free Geocaching Intro app installed. *Bring your own bike

  • ANIMAL FACT or FICTION 
    Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m.
    All Ages/Families, $3/person (Reservations Required)
    Can owls really turn their heads all the way around?  Could a turtle crawl out of its shell? Come find out the truth about many common animal myths and meet several of our live education animals!  

  • MOTHER NATURE & ME: POLAR PARTY
    Tuesday, July 19 at 10:30 a.m.
    Ages 2-5 (w/ guardian), $4/child (Reservations required)
    Get ready to jump and shout with Mother Nature through stories, live animals, activities, and a craft specifically designed for toddlers and preschoolers!

  • NIGHT HIKE
    Friday, July 29 at 8:00 p.m.
    All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
    Always wondered what Daggerwing’s boardwalk would be like after dark? Here is your chance to find out!  Join our Naturalist-guided boardwalk tour at night to look for the shining eyes of nocturnal wildlife and listen for the calls of both predators and prey that use the darkness to their advantage.
    *Be sure to bring bug spray and a flashlight.

  • ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY       
    Wednesday, August 10, 10:00 a.m.
    All ages, $5/participant (Reservations required)
    Ever wondered what it would be like to be an animal keeper? Work behind the scenes* with Animal Care Staff and Volunteers.  From cleaning cages and preparing diets to providing enrichment, learn what it really means to care for these special animal ambassadors. *Kids may get messy!

  • TALKING ANIMALS 
    Saturday, August 13, 10:30 a.m.
    All ages/families, $3/person (Reservations required)
    Animals share many ways of communicating with one another, learn how in this fun and educational presentation. Join a naturalist with some of the nature center’s animal ambassadors to learn about the different ways animals communicate.
