Program Calendar

 

Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). Please call if you are not able to attend the program to allow those on the waiting list to attend. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

Participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form upon arrival to the program. Program fees are due upon arrival to the program.

DAILY ANIMAL FEEDINGS

  • Daily when the center is open 3:15pm-3:30pm
    Families / All Ages, FREE (Reservations NOT Required)
    3:15pm is feeding time! Listen to a short talk about a specific animal and then watch while they are fed.

    • Wednesday – Alligator
    • Thursday – Snake
    • Friday – Skunk
    • Saturday - Alligator


DECEMBER

  • MOMMY, MOTHER NATURE AND ME!
    December 5 & 19, 10:30-11:15 a.m.
    Ages 2-5, $4 per child (Reservations Required)

    This fun filled series designed for preschool children introduces your little ones to Mother Nature through stories, a craft, and an activity that changes each session. Space for each program is limited.

  • POETRY IN NATURE
    December 27, 1:00-1:45 p.m.
    Ages 8 & up (Reservations Required)

    Get creative and find new ways to express yourself! This program is the perfect opportunity to share your voice and explore nature at the same time.

  • BE AN ANIMAL KEEPER FOR A DAY
    December 23 & 30, 9:30-11:00 a.m.
    Ages 8-15, $10/per child, per class (Reservations Required)
    Children will have the opportunity to go behind the scenes and learn about the inner workings of animal care in a nature center setting. They will assist in diet preparation, cleaning the animal enclosures, feeding the animals, and even ‘walking the turtles.’ This program also includes teachings about animal husbandry, enrichments, and why training is an important part of caring for animals on a daily basis. Participants are asked to bring sun screen, a water bottle, and wear closed-toed shoes.

JANUARY

  • MOMMY, MOTHER NATURE AND ME!
    January 2 & 16, 10:30-11:15 am
    Ages 2-5, $4 per child (Reservations Required)

  • NATURALIST PROGRAMS
    January 10 at 1:00 pm - “BIRDING 101”
    January 24 at 1:00 pm - “SENSATIONAL SNAKES”
    All Ages, $3 per person (Reservations Required)
    Our Naturalist Programs are designed for all ages and provide applicable information so you head home prepared to try new things. Either on your own or with your family, these programs will make life in Florida a bit more meaningful.

  • Night Hike
    January 30 at 6:00 pm
    All Ages, $5 per person (Reservations Required)
    Always wondered what Daggerwing’s boardwalk would be like after dark? Here is your chance to find out!  Join our Naturalist-guided boardwalk tour at night to look for the shining eyes of nocturnal wildlife and listen for the calls of both predators and prey that use the darkness to their advantage.  This all ages program offers a new perspective on the wetlands surrounding Daggerwing Nature Center.  Space is limited, please RSVP. (Approx. 1 1/2 hours) **Be sure to bring bug spray and a flashlight.
